Moving to Europe: Puppy Paperwork & Apartment Hunting

Football is back baby!!! If there’s one thing I’m going to miss dearly about America, it’s going to be football. Leaving a month after the season started is a bummer but guess we’ll just have to get over it, right? It’s nice to get in as much as possible before we leave.

Yesterday, we worked hard as hell outside clearing our stuff out of the shed. We accomplished that task but now there’s a mess in the garage. It shouldn’t take a full day to finish up with that though. Our biggest challenge thus far has been securing a place to stay. We kinda put all of our eggs in one basket by hoping we can stay at an AirBnB house we crashed at in Amsterdam the first time we visited.

She has bookings pretty much all through the Fall. They said we can stay from January through March, but that doesn’t help us out right now, does it? Nein. So we are back on the hunt now. Not to say we’re desperate; we can probably book something at least short term. Finding a place that allows Iggy to stay has been a nightmare. For anyone considering this move, we’d definitely recommend giving yourself a few months in advance to search for lodging.

We focused most of our late night attention to finding a reliable real estate agency. I say reliable because there’re tons of sites and listings that seem too good to be true. We refuse to be scammed and are firm believers that if it look too good to be true, it must be. I did find 27 Huis which is the agency used by House Hunters International! Unfortunately, they only have two listings as of right now. More to come on the housing situation.

Getting Iggy ready to go is pretty much done until it’s time to leave. His mandatory USDA certified vet has reviewed his paperwork and his shots are good to go. He just has to be taken up there within 10 days of departure to get cleared for international travel.
